sweet potato’s room

Here is where Sweet P spends her nights, in case you were wondering! (And if you weren’t, maybe you’d like to scroll to the end and see a mini-DIY instead!)

quilt// thrifted
I got this thrifted framed cross stitch because I loved the colors, but it also fits in well with the two other donkeys in her room 😉 Also I liked the dark-skinned girl leading the donkey, it reminds me of P’s mixed Mexican and Native American heritage (among many, many others!)

Vintage dresses// left: from etsy shop fuzzy mama // middle and right: from etsy shop little reader vintage
on this wall, I hung my favorite picture of P,  a vintage puzzle I put together with puzzle glue, the heart racquet, a favorite outfit of hers, and a shell (her middle name means “seashell”)

Some of the most fun I had in putting this room together centered around this pin-the-tail on the donkey game that came across at a garage sale. It was still in its original box with all the numbered tails, and I couldn’t pass up it’s sweet little face (for $5 I doubt any vintage lover could). But I knew it wouldn’t last 3 minutes in my house without some major fortification. I picked up a frame at IKEA, inserted the poster, and flipped the paper that came with the frame over so the white side was framing the donkey. Then I stuck a roll of magnetic tape to the paper, put the backing back on the frame, and laminated the tails (with the thickest lamination possible) at Office Depot. Then I glued neoprene magnets to the back of each tail with E-6000 glue and BAM! we were in donkey tail pinning business.
