The only downside to getting married on April Fools Day is that everyone thinks you’re joking when you tell them it’s your anniversary. Can you imagine, though– that could have been the most elaborate April Fools joke ever.
I don’t blame you if you think this looks like a compilation of random, low quality photos. It kind of is. But when I see these pictures, I see some of our favorite moments which have turned into memories that, when pieced together, somehow manage to form an entire decade of marriage.
Together, we’ve snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef and hiked the Australian outback. We’ve held baby crocs Down Under and we’ve chased fireflies in our own backyard. We’ve jumped in mud puddles in Texas and we’ve swam in the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. We’ve been on top of an active volcano in the Pacific and traveled by train through the Swiss Alps. We’ve seen a ballet at the Sydney Opera House and watched our daughters perform recitals in school auditoriums. We have celebrated births and marriages and said goodbye to loved ones in more ways than one- in other words, we have had our share of ups, downs, and all arounds during these past 10 years. Here’s to the first decade of marriage: I only wish we could have a dozen more.Cottesloe Beach, Perth, Australia, April 2008: before “selfie” was a wordThe Great Barrier ReefAyers Rock at sunsetBuckingham Palace, May 2010Brussels, BelgiumParis, May 2010A 15-month-old Georgia and I overlooking the Seinechasing pigeons in front of Notre DameVersailles gardens: #backyardgoalsChoices, choices!
